2nd Class

The second class was just as sucessful as the first. I worked with two students again. Mostly I worked with an older lady whose name is Cristina. She had become very familiar with addition. And I thought it was time to move on to subtraction. This is a really difficult concept for Cristina, because it is something that she doesn´t remember from her elementary school days. I think it is always hard to confront our ignorance. We worked on a lot of basic math problems together. I hope that next week she will feel more confident.

I am always so inspired by these women. I love that they want to learn. Many of them no longer need these skills. They have been mothers and grandmothers and some are even great grandmothers. Still, they want to learn. One of the ladies this week talked about how her little daughter was explaining to her how to read some words, and how she wants to read with her. She wants it so badly. These ladies are positively beautiful.
